J.A.M. Awards & Concert – Promoting Jam Master Jay’s Vision Of Justice, Arts & Music (J.A.M.)–Announce Nominees For Awards

Including Chuck D, Will Smith, Spike Lee, Wyclef Jean & Kanye West Snoop Dogg And Others Scheduled To Perform  In Tribute To Jam Master Jay

In celebration of the life and legacy of rap pioneer Jam Master Jay, the Jam Master Jay Foundation for Music–created in Jay’s honor by his wife Terri Corley-Mizell, DMC and his closest friends to support music and arts education in rural and urban schools–has announced the nominees for the inaugural J.A.M. AWARDS.

The award winners will be announced at the 2007 J.A.M. AWARDS & CONCERT on Thursday, November 29 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. The show’s star-studded line-up include Snoop Dogg, Marley Marl, Mobb Deep, De La Soul, Dead Prez, Papoose, Raekwon, Q-Tip, Everlast featuring DJ Muggs, DMC, Kid Capri, Mister Sinister as well as recently announced additions EPMD, Lord Finesse, Bumpy Knuckles, DJ Kay Slay and Jim Jones. Tickets are currently on sale at Ticketmaster outlets.

The J.A.M. AWARDS were set up to show the world the most positive aspects of rap, and the nominees were chosen by the Foundation Board Members for their outstanding efforts in promoting social Justice, Arts & Music (“J.A.M.”). During the show, one winner will be announced in each of the three categories.

Nominees for the 2007 J.A.M. AWARDS:

  •   JUSTICE : Chuck D, Dr. Cornell West and Will Smith
  • ARTS : Spike Lee, Robert L. Johnson and Lee Quinones
  • MUSIC : Nelly, Wyclef Jean and Kanye West

The J.A.M. AWARDS & CONCERT was created by EPOP International Founder and CEO David Clark and “Kaves” – a New York graffiti legend and front-man for the band Lordz of Brooklyn.The event is presented by the Jam Master Jay Foundation for Music and EPOP International with the support of adidas, The Fader and Hot 97.
