Brief – Congressional Medal of Honor Society

Create public service initiative for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, which is solely comprised of less than 100 men who wear America’s highest award for valor in combat – The Medal of Honor.

Solution

David Clark creates the Above & Beyond public service brand for the Society.

In honor of Abraham Lincoln who created the Medal of Honor in 1861, Above & Beyond is
launched on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial by General Colin Powell who asked his fellow Americans to nominate ordinary citizens in their local community who have gone “above and beyond” for others, to receive the “the most prestigious civilian award in America” – the Above & Beyond Citizen Honors. That these civilian honorees are selected by all the living Medal of Honor recipients, is what gives this unique award its authority.

The presentation site selected by Clark for this prestigious honor is the ultimate symbol of
anonymous heroism – the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

President Barack Obama recently participated in the Above & Beyond Citizen Honors event, and led the wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Previous event Chairs have included President’s Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter. The Above & Beyond Citizen Honors are supported by every branch of the US Armed Forces.
